Software Development and Game Design 

Overview 

The games industry is one of the largest in the world – currently out grossing the music and film industry in the UK. This course is aimed at computer games enthusiasts who are interested in pursuing a career in the computer games industry. Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of computer game development and will also learn how ideas can be transformed and conveyed through computer graphics and storyboarding techniques. Advanced OO-Programming concepts are covered and students will be confidently able to program in Java and other languages upon completion. 

At the end of this course you will have designed and built some games, both 2D and 3D and you will have an app running on your mobile phone. Work experience is an important part of all our courses. We have many industry contacts in the local area and at the end of this course you will have been in a workplace and will have reflected on your duties there. 

Entry Requirements 

Leaving Certificate (5 passes)
Leaving Certificate Applied or equivalent
Mature Applicants are welcome
