Course Description

This one year full-time course provides students with the practical skills and knowledge necessary for the dynamic world of Business and Event Management. 

By combining technical event management skills with business competencies, you can work and progress your career in a wide range of event-related settings. 

Entry Requirements
Leaving Certificate or Leaving Certificate Applied or LCVP or QQI Level 4 Award. Equal consideration will be given to mature applicants (those aged over 23) who do not meet these entry requirements.

Progression Opportunities

At Longford College of Further Education: Graduates of this course may progress to the QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Business 

Graduates of this course are eligible to apply through the CAO and/or the Higher Education Links Scheme for entry to year one of a range of higher certificate and degree programmes at Institutes of Technology and Universities  

  • Level 8 Bachelor of Business in TUS 
  • Higher Certificate in Business in TUS  
  • Level 7 in Business Studies with Event Management

Fees

Student Services Registration Fee: €50

QQI Examination Fees: €50 (medical card holders and BTEI  are exempt)

Structure of the Course:

A timetable will be given to you at the start of the course. Your timetable will run over 4 days per week. Monday to Thursday for Level 5 Business students. One day per week will be allocated as a work experience day. Please note – Friday is your work experience day

You will be given a College email address and access to Microsoft Teams where all resources will be made available.

You will be fully supported with all your assignments and assessments.

In order to achieve the overall QQI Level 5 Business award you are required to pass the 8 modules.

Learning Support – extra classes may be provided for students who have educational psychological reports. Please let me know if you require support, this is confidential.

Work Experience

Work Experience is an important part of the course. You are required to complete 100 hours of work experience in a business setting.
