Overview

This course will help the learner to build a strong broad foundation in computing, this includes programming and design principles, 2D and 3D computer graphics, web authoring and games design. It will help learners to become more confident ahead of computing degrees and to become more proficient with programming in general.

Upon completion of this course, students will have designed and built a game in 2d software and 3d software. They will have designed and built apps and have these running on their own phones. They will have designed and coded on object-oriented code and wrote about their learning journey.

Work experience is an important part of all our courses. We have many industry contacts in the local area and at the end of this course, you will have been in a workplace and will have reflected on your duties there.

Entry Requirements: Leaving Certificate or Leaving Certificate Applied or LCVP or QQI Level 4 Award. Equal consideration will be given to mature applicants (those aged over 23) who do not meet these entry requirements.

This course provides a foundation for learners who wish to gain employment in the field of Computers, Gaming, Software Development and Mobile App Development. On completion of this programme learners will have the knowledge, skills and competencies to design, develop and test software components and systems in a workplace environment, working as a team member under supervision, while contributing to the workflow for the finished product.

Learners may wish to continue their studies and progress to Higher Education.
